Protien Enriched Chicken Soup

This post is in response to one of my visitors Satyajit who asked me for protein enriched soup in his comment.
                Chicken is highly rich in protien which is essential for healthy body. Protien is neccessary for healthy muscles because our muscles are partly made of it. Besides making muscles, it also helps in building skin,nail & hair. Protein helps to fight disease by keeping the immune system of our body function properly.
             So here the recipe of protien enriched chicken soup

 from the book titled The Foolproof Cookbook For Brides Bachelors & Those Who Hate Cooking by my favourite writer Rohini Singh.


1 onion,finally chopped
1/2 teaspoon grated ginger
2 cloves
1-1/2 tbalespoons of oil or butter
1 small stick of cinnamom
A few peppercorns
Green chillies finely chopped
2-3 chicken necks,caracasses & other tiny pieces
1 good piece chicken(optional)


Heat oil or butter in a pressure cooker. Add some cloves,cinnamom & peppercorns. Fry for a few seconds then add finely chopped onion & green chillies. Fry till the onion starts turning brown. Now add grated ginger salt & chicken pieces & fry till the chicken begins to brown.Now add 2-1/2 cups of water ,close the pressure cooker & after the first whistle reduce heat & keep on fire for the next 30 minutes. Open the cooker, when pressure reduce & stain the soup. Take the meat off from the good pieces of chicken & chop it. Add them to the soup & serve hot.

Variation : Chicken Noddle Soup

After straing the soup & adding chopped chicken to it ,put it back on the fire, bring to a simmer & drop in a small handful of broken noddles. Cook about 6 minutes or till the noddle are tender..
                            Finely chopped fresh coriander added to this soup before serving makes a delightful addition.
